Sony SRS XB20 Bluetooth Pairing Instructions

Gives Bluetooth pairing instructions for the Sony SRS XB20 mini speaker to devices from Apple. Like the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. This also works for Android devices too, such as Samsung and LG phones, and Amazon Fire tablets.

Sony SRS XB20 Bluetooth Pairing Instructions: Step by Step

Begin with your SRS XB20 powered OFF (power button is dark). Then run through this routine to pair it to your source device. We’re using an iPad Air tablet computer in this demo.

1. Go to the Home Screen on your Source Device

Firstly, press the Home button to reveal the smart device’s Home screen.

2. Find the Settings App

Then we find ours on the second page of the Home screen.

3. Bring up the Settings App

Thirdly, touch the Settings app icon.

The smart device then shows the first page of its settings, as shown in the next step.

4. Go to the Bluetooth Settings  Page to Continue with Sony SRS XB20 Bluetooth Pairing Instructions

The Bluetooth Settings screen appears as follows. Note that our Bluetooth is ON here. Now our test XB20 is currently OFF. So it cannot be in BT discovery mode). Thus it does not show up in the My Devices list. Also, it isn’t there because we’ve never paired it with this mobile device before.

5. Turn On your Sony SRX XB20 

Turn on the speaker by quickly pressing its  Power-Pairing  button.

The unit then powers up, and its Power-Pairing button glows white.

But since our tablet does not know about this speaker, the XB20 will not pair with it automatically.





6. Put the SRS XB20 in Discovery Mode

Then, to see the speaker on your source device, place it into discovery mode. To accomplish that thus, press the Power-Pairing button. Then release when you hear the rising pitch beep sequence. Plus the XB20 also announces, “Bluetooth pairing,” in a lady’s voice.

In addition to the announcement,  the Bluetooth Status lamp starts flashing fast white.

7. Find the Speaker on your Mobile Device to Continue with Sony SRS XB20 Bluetooth Pairing

We find our XB20, as follows.

8. Now Pair with the XB20

Then tap the speaker in the discovered devices list.

Your mobile device then pairs with the Bluetooth speaker.

E.g. The the mobile device’s Bluetooth Settings screen might then change to look something like the following.  Note the now-connected SRS XB20 entry.

9. Done with Sony SRS XB20 Bluetooth Pairing Instructions !

At last, we have now successfully paired the XB20 wireless speaker with with a common mobile tablet device.
