Sony SRS XB41 Charge Time for Full Recharge

You charge the Sony SRS XB41 speaker with power bank via the barrel style DC input port (gives the fastest charging), or the slower micro USB port, and to get the quickest charge time and fullest recharge, use a medium to full current USB charger for fastest yet most cost effective results via the USB port. But for the quickest charge, use the charger that comes with the speaker, as it charges at a significantly faster rate than does USB.  Details follow.

Sony SRS XB41 Charge Time: How Long to Fully Recharge

According to the specs for this speaker the time it takes to charge the SRS XB41 Bluetooth speaker is eight (8.0) hours, using a 5 volt, 1.5 amp, 7.5 watt charger or greater.  With the included charger, (which is 5 volts, 3 amps, 15 watt), the one with the barrel connector, the XB41 recharges fully in five (5) hours.

How Long the XB 41 Plays on a Full Charge

On a complete charge, the speaker can play for up to twenty-four (24) hours, thanks to its built in lithium ion battery.

But when you play it loudly, especially with booming bass, you will indeed see much shorter playing times per recharge.  We see this Bluetooth speaker die in around eight hours when we play at louder volume. So to get the longest playing time per recharge, power saving is useful.  Just play it only as loudly as you need to, to hear it well throughout your listening space.

The Play Time Gets Shorter as the Sony SRS XB41 Speaker Ages

If you own this speaker over a few years, you may notice that the time it plays from a single charge shrinks as the speaker gets older.  This is normal for devices like this one, that rely on lithium ion batteries.

But by deep cycling the battery now and then, you can slow this charge capacity decrease. So to exercise the XB41, run the battery fully dead, and then recharge it again every three to six months.

Also, we advise that you avoid leaving the speaker connected to a charger once it reaches full charge.  Right after the charging lamp goes out, unplug the speaker as soon as you can, to avoid overcharging it and aging the battery early.
