How to Put Sony SRS XB23 in Pairing Mode

To pair your SRS XB23 Sony speaker with a Bluetooth source device for the first time, or to refresh old connection info in that device, you have to know how to initiate pairing mode.  Why?  Because in this mode, the speaker sends out its name and connection data over the air.  Then your source device uses this information to link to the speaker. And finally, you can then play music from your smart device on the speaker.  So in this post, we describe how to put the Sony SRS XB23 speaker into pairing mode, to let you to link it with phones, tablets, computers, and smart speakers.





How to Put Sony SRS XB23 Speaker into Pairing Mode

1. Turn On the XB23

Turn on the speaker by quickly pressing and releasing its  Power  button.

E.g. See this button, that we point out with the green arrow, in the next picture.

The speaker then comes on.

2. Press the Pairing Button

Secondly, This enables your source device see the XB23. So, place the speaker into pairing mode by pressing and releasing the the Pairing button, as pointed out in the next picture.

When you peck this button, the speaker announces in a female voice, “Bluetooth pairing.”

Plus, the Bluetooth Status lamp begins rapidly flashing blue.  Your speaker is now in pairing mode.





3. Done with How to Put Sony SRS XB23 Speaker in Pairing Mode

While the Bluetooth Status lamp blinks, you should see the XB23 on any in-range phone, computer, tablet, or smart speaker, that is within several feet of it, as shown next.

Note in the last picture, that the speaker appears as “SRS-XB23”.  So at this time, you could connect to it if you wished.
