JBL Go 3 Charging Light

The JBL Go 3 charging light is a single LED on the right side panel.  This lamp displays charging status, whether it’s draining or charging, or whether the battery is very low.  But it does not read out charging progress, or exactly how full the battery is. But it does change color when the battery reaches near-dead state. So in this piece, we explain how to read the JBL Go 3 Charging Light lamp here.

JBL Go 3 Charging Light: How to Read It

1. When the Charging Light is OFF

When the Go 3 is OFF with no charger, this lamp goes dark. This LED is also dark when the charger IS running, but charging is complete.

2. JBL Go 3 Charging Light Shows Battery Recharging Progress

The status lamp lights up red (no flashing) while the speaker charges, as shown in the next picture.   On this speaker, the glowing light is the only visual indication that charging is going on.  But it does not display how far along the charging is.

Note that this lamp blinks red when the battery is very low while the speaker is running on battery power.  This means that you should recharge the speaker immediately.

But when you apply USB power, this red flashing light turns to a solid red.

Also note that this light never flashes red while charging.  It always glows solid during recharge.

3. When the Light Goes Out While Charging, Then Charging is Complete

As speaker charging continues, the light keeps glowing red. But eventually, charging finishes, and the lamp goes out, or turns white to show this.  It turn off when the speaker is not ON, and turns white when it is ON. Either signal means that charging is complete.

4. The JBL Go 3 Charging Light Is Not Much of a Battery Charge Remaining Meter

When disconnected from the charger, what was the Charging Light becomes the battery charge remaining light.  Well sort of.  If it glows white, then the battery has some amount of play time left, although you cannot tell how much.

The next picture shows a JBL Go 3, powered ON, with the battery status lamp glowing solid white.  Note though that this light blinks white, when the speaker has no pairing session active.

Now there’s only one hint that this light gives about battery status when not charging. This is when the battery reaches a critically low level.  Then, it starts flashing red, as explained above.
