Google Chromecast Audio Receiver USB Power Adapter Specs: The Details
The US version of Chromecast Audio AC adapter sports a standard 120v two prong, non polarized plug. Furthermore, it features non retractable prongs, as displayed next.
Unfortunately though, foldable prongs are not always good. E.g. As in non portable uses like the Chromecast Audio receiver, which needs outside power. Why not? Because they can develop poor connections and loosen over time. So this can cause faulty function.
But for the Chromecast Audio, users will likely not plug and unplug this adapter very much. Thus, for this use, we feel that folding prongs offer little added value. Indeed at times, they can create lots of headaches.
This lightweight and compact AC to DC converter accepts 50-60 Hz. 100-240 volts, at 0.25 amps Max input. It outputs 5 volts DC at 1.0 amps max to the USB A style port.
The USB cable matches the dark gray case of this Google Chromecast adapter. It has a micro USB male plug at one end, and a USB A male plug at the other.
We find many numbers on the adapter case as follows: Chromecast model number: 5005BBU0500100 CP51000-US. I.T.E. power supply, made in China, 07-20-2015. Listed 20HK, E17B074.
The power adapter features no pilot lamp to show that it’s operating. But there is a lamp on the receiver itself that lights when USB power is present.
Since this a medium current USB adapter, it can also charge phones, small Bluetooth speakers, and small tablets.
