We’ve tested various versions of Soft Scrub Disinfectant Cleanser with Bleach, including this Commercial Solutions potion, for many years.
Our experience is that this, along with all the other cleaners and cleansers in the Soft Scrub line, is quite the versatile, effective but not excessively abrasive liquid cleanser. It works well anywhere you need gentle yet definite scouring capabilities, including the kitchen and bathroom, but can also remove touch stains from counters, tables, and floors, and leave them virtually germ free to boot. The Commercial Solutions version comes in a larger (36 ounce) bottle than the home version of the product, and smells less strongly of bleach. But works well in animal hospitals, industrial complexes, schools, day-care buildings, hotels, doctors offices, and any institution where near-sterile surfaces and environments must be maintained.
Benefits, Features, Advantages, and Pros of Soft Scrub Cleanser with Bleach
Bleach aroma fades rapidly. The scent lingers not. Soon after you rinse this disinfectant cleanser down the drain, its smell disappears as well.
Kills virtually all dangerous bacteria in under five minutes, including Staphylococcus aureus (Staph), salmonella choleraesuis, pseucomonas aeruginosa, athletes foot fungus (Trichophyton mentogrophytes), and streptococcus pyogenes (strep).
Removes stubborn baked on, dried on food. It works particularly well on pots and pans, at removing baked and burned on foods. However, avoid scrubbing nonstick cookware with it, as the mild abrasives may strip away the no-stick surfaces as well as the dirt.
Not too “bleachy.” Has a soft but non overbearing aroma (though it has a hint of a bleach smell that’s stronger than the Soft Scrub without the bleach). Still though, you may leave windows closed windows and turn off exhaust fans while using it in small spaces like little bathrooms. No fumes to speak of.
Great for removing gunky commode bowl stains and rust. We most use this Soft Scrub product in bathrooms for removing soap scum and hard water deposits from bathtubs, sinks, and occasionally, the toilet whenever a stubborn spot appears in the bowl. It’s also great in the kitchen for removing stubborn countertop tea and coffee stains, scouring the sink, and cleaning stoves.
Excellent disinfectant. Works particularly well at removing the most common bathroom dirt and scum as well as disinfects those surfaces. It’s disinfecting yet thick consistency makes this product very well suited for thoroughly cleaning commodes. Just squeeze 4 ounces onto the inside of the bowl, well above the water level. Then, use toilet brush to evenly spread Soft Scrub evenly around the above-water bowl surfaces, including underneath the rim. Then, leave it sit in the bowl for at least ten minutes, and then flush to rinse away. Swash the water around with the brush, to rinse and disinfect it too.
Does not scratch most surfaces with proper use. We’ve never scratched any bathroom or kitchen surface with Soft Scrub Commercial Solutions Cleanser with Bleach. Yet it has effectively cleaned almost every surface upon which I’ve applied it.
Rags and sponges. Works just as well when applied with a rag as it does when applied with a sponge. I’d rather use a rag actually, as rags tend to be cheaper to come by than sponges.
Clean rinsing. Flushes away completely, although not always quickly, depending on how much you applied originally. The fine, gritty stuff in this cleaner can require lots of water to completely rinse down the drain.
Sold almost everywhere. Is very easy to find in just about any grocery or home improvement store.
Recyclable plastic bottle. Just rinse thoroughly inside and out, prior to depositing in the recycling bin, so that collectors do not spill remnants of this cleaner on clothing.
Biodegradable agents. Contains no phosphorous.
Priced reasonably. Haven’t bought it lately however, as we have many bottles of it around, that I bought years ago (I like stocking up on products that I like).
Contains bleach. We like that they put a little bleach into this product to help pump up its disinfectant qualities, as well as to increase its cleaning effectiveness as a stain-removing cleanser. It’s the bleach that makes this product anti bacterial and disinfecting, and further strengthens its stain-removing powers.
Disadvantages, Cons, Limitations, Problems, and Concerns of Soft Scrub Cleanser with Bleach
Can indeed scratch if you rub too hard while cleaning certain surfaces. So, conserve scrubbing pressure where possible, and test surfaces to be cleaned prior, in an obscured area on said surfaces, to test how much this cleaner will scratch the subject surface. We’ve never seen it scratch glass, though it can rough up stainless steel.
May otherwise harm some surfaces. Be especially careful cleansing fiberglass, enamel, aluminum, plastics, and delicate-painted surfaces. For these finishes, use sparing amounts of cleaner, and rub softly and for not too long.
Bleach can discolor clothing and surfaces. Be careful not to drop this cleaner on your clothing or other delicate non color fast surfaces, as it could cause color fading at the points of contact. Take all handling precautions with this product that you would observe with straight liquid bleach.
Requires vigorous shaking before application. An almost pasty solution reminiscent of school time glue, you must hard shake the bottle for a half-minute or more to thoroughly mix up the cleanser particles and bleach.
Hard to find. May have to purchase this product at a commercial supply store or wholesale club.
We like this disinfectant and cleansing cleaner, and would thus, highly recommend it to anyone wanting to do a decent job at cleaning their kitchen sinks and apliances, as well as their bathroom fixtures. Thus, we’d rate this Commercial Solutions version of Soft Scrub with bleach at 97 out of 100. Hard to do better, unless and until we evolve beyond the need for manual kitchen and bathroom cleaning tasks.
