We find the Amazon Echo reset button on the generation one (original) Alexa Echo smart speaker on the underside of the unit. E.g. See this pointed at by the purple arrow in the next picture. Note that the button is easy to get to, once you turn the speaker upside down. Furthermore, just sit the speaker, top side down, on a soft, dry cloth to avoid scratching the control panel.
Amazon Echo Reset Button, Where to Find It
The reset button is inside a small hole there. So to press it, insert the end of a small to medium-sized paper clip. Press GENTLY, just enough to activate the button. Further, hold this button in for five seconds to start factory default reset process.
They put the button well away from where someone might press it by accident. But these days, even if you did reset the speaker by mistake, recovering it is pretty simple. Why? Because Amazon saves speaker settings data in the cloud. Thus, you can quickly set it up again after a unintentional reset. How? Well, when you set it up, Alexa downloads this data to the speaker again. True. Some data you must re enter manually. But most of it you need not enter from scratch again.
