We explain how to turn on the JBL Flip 3 portable speaker here. Now most speakers have a Power button that JBL prominently positions on the unit so it’s easy to find. Indeed, this speaker is no exception to this pattern, as we find its Power button on the side button panel.
There’s also a status lamp inside the Power button. This starts glowing or flashing when the speaker powers up.
This lamp is dark when the speaker is OFF. And when the unit is running, this lamp glows white or blue, or flashes blue depending on speaker pairing status.
How to Turn On JBL Flip 3
To power up this speaker, press the Power button. Then release after a quarter second or so. Moreover, you needn’t hold it in for long. It takes less than a second for the unit to see your press. and then turn itself on.
When the speaker comes on, the status lamp glows. And the unit makes an interesting sound to tell you that it is ready to play.
But pressing the Power button may not start the speaker. Or it may start but the battery level gauge blinks red. In either situation, try fully recharging the speaker.
Now with a charger hooked up, this speaker should always power up when you click the Power button. If not, then the unit may not be getting any electricity from your charger. So check that the AC outlet for the adapter is live. And verify that the adapter works and that the cable between it and the speaker is okay. Finally, check that the charger plug is tight in the speaker’s USB port. Further, the speaker could be in service mode. In that case, it will not power up unless you connect it to power. So turn this mode OFF to restore normal operation.
But if after all these checks the speaker still does not turn on, then the unit itself may be defective. So just get a new one to save yourself a bunch of headaches.
